Saddle of the Cavalier 5e
Wonderous item, uncommon
While in this saddle on a mount, you can't be dismounted against your will if you're conscious, and attack rolls against the mount have disadvantage.

If you’re all in on mounted combat, you’ll probably want a Saddle of the Cavalier. This handy little piece of equipment makes your mount far more durable while keeping you on it through most any forces trying to part the two of you.
Find Steed and Find Greater Steed both give paladins mounts, and the latter provides you with a flying mount should you opt for a Griffon or Pegasus. Having a Saddle of the Cavalier can keep you on your mount safely in the air, reducing the total risk that comes with flying hundreds of feet above the ground on a bird horse.
The Mounted Combatant feat gives you an even stronger method for protecting your mount by allowing you to redirect attacks from it to you. This combined with the disadvantage on attacks against the mount results in a play pattern where you can allow a few attacks against your mount first, then when it's injured start redirecting all of the attacks to you instead, expanding both of your survivability.
Cavaliers are a Fighter archetype that can play well with mounted combat. Their Born to the Saddle feature is made fairly moot by this item, though, and the rest of the archetype doesn’t get a lot more to do with mounted combat.
