For the best chance of taking down an ancient storm giant, you should come with a Giant Slayer. It's in the name. These things will juice your attacks to slay the grandest giant monsters.
Bonus damage dealt with this weapon is dealt by the weapon, meaning it can be doubled with a critical hit
Prone grants enemies’ melee attacks advantage; multiple attacks with this against a giant will quickly stack up your damage
While they’re similar and somewhat related to giants in the lore, firbolgs and goliaths are humanoid, not giant, and aren’t forced to make a save or fall prone or take the 2d6 bonus damage
Attacking non-giant creatures with this weapon still provides you the +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls
