+1/+2/+3 Weapons are classic upgrades for adventurers looking for a bit more juice on their attack and damage rolls. They aren’t fancy, nor do much else besides a bit more damage, but they’re great to come across as you dungeon delve.
Magic weapons critically overcome a common-ish resistance or immunity, resistance or immunity to non-magical bludgeoning/slashing/piercing damage. These are magical weapons, so they work effectively on monsters like Werewolves!
Magic Weapon functionally transforms a weapon from a mundane version to its +1/+2/+3 counterpart using the appropriate spell slot.
D&D Beyond lists some additional weapons not found in the PHB Equipment section as valid +1/+2/+3 weapons, including the Boomerang, Yklwa, and many firearms.
These don’t require attunement to use effectively; anyone can pick up a +1 weapon and immediately get the benefits of attacking with it!
