Are you tired of moving at half-speed in water? You need a Ring of Swimming! This little ring solves a lot of your aquatic movement issues and does so with style and grace.
Having a swim speed not only lets you move faster underwater, you can use melee weapons without penalty, even if they aren’t daggers, javelins, shortswords, spears, or tridents.
When moving with a variety of speeds in a turn, you subtract your distance traveled from the speed you switch to.
Example: you have a Swim Speed of 40 and a regular ground speed of 30.
You start your turn moving 20 feet to the shore, entering into the water. You then switch to swimming; you have a Swim Speed of 40 and have moved 20 feet on this turn already, meaning you can swim an additional 20 feet.
Alternatively, if you swim 30 feet to shore, and want to switch to your ground speed, you subtract 30 from your ground speed, meaning you have no movement left to use to move on land.
