Potion of Resistance 5e
Adventuring gear (potion), uncommon
When you drink this potion, you gain resistance to one type of damage for 1 hour. The DM chooses the type or determines it randomly from the options below.

There really are eleven different types of Potions of Resistance; one completely random option, and ten that provide resistance to a specific damage type. Random versions of it are going to be challenging to get any benefit out of, as the likelihood of rolling one that’s going to come up in a fight within that time is incredibly low. The targeted ones can provide you a useful tool to pack for a fight against a specific kind of enemy, and are great tools to seek out prior to facing down elemental creatures like Black Dragons or Ice Devils!
Resistance halves the damage taken from the specified damage type.
Your DM determines every element of the potion’s outcome; they choose if it's random, and if it's not, they choose what damage type it resists.
The damage types not included on the list are bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing. These three are the most common in the game as weapon damage, making these positioned to work best against magic.
