As iconic as dragons are their slayers; great heroes or brutal monster hunters, always armed with a trusty tool of legendary stature used to fell mighty beasts. A Dragon Slayer is the exact tool said legendary warriors seek to best draconic beasts!
The bonus damage is a part of the weapon attack roll, meaning it can critically hit, doubling the rolled dice
The Dragon type has some odd outliers; while both kobolds and dragonborn are dragon descendants, neither have the creature type “dragon”, and are unaffected by a dragon slayer’s bonus damage.
Attacks made with the slayer against non-dragon creatures add the +1 bonus to hit and damage, but don’t add the bonus 3d6 extra damage.
