Driftglobe 5e
Wondrous item, uncommon
This small sphere of thick glass weighs 1 pound. If you are within 60 feet of it, you can speak its command word and cause it to emanate the Light or Daylight spell. Once used, the Daylight effect can't be used again until the next dawn.
You can speak another command word as an action to make the illuminated globe rise into the air and float no more than 5 feet off the ground. The globe hovers in this way until you or another creature grasps it. If you move more than 60 feet from the hovering globe, it follows you until it is within 60 feet of you. It takes the shortest route to do so. If prevented from moving, the globe sinks gently to the ground and becomes inactive, and its light winks out.

Driftglobes are tiny floating orbs that can emit the Light spell at will, or the Daylight spell once per day. They follow 60 feet behind the activator as they go, making them fine, hands-free torch replacements in a pinch that can blast dazzling light out daily.
Daylight is a 3rd level spell, making this uncommon item a means for lower-tier characters to get the spell fairly cheaply should they need to confront a monster of the night like a Vampire.
Daylight will easily illuminate your entire party and out a further 60 feet should this be following exactly 60 feet behind you, but the Light cantrip’s range is much smaller, making it ineffective at acting as a free-floating light source when using the cantrip
Even though the item doesn’t require attunement, attuning to it will identify its command words should you not know them.
You can always use the light effects while holding the orb; it doesn’t need to be floating behind you to produce either effect.
