Cap of Water Breathing 5e
Wondrous item, uncommon
While wearing this cap underwater, you can speak its command word as an action to create a bubble of air around your head. It allows you to breathe normally underwater. This bubble stays with you until you speak the command word again, the cap is removed, or you are no longer underwater.

The Cap of Water Breathing is an easy tool for access to underwater exploration. If you’re the only character lacking some subclass feature or racial trait that lets you explore underwater, the Cap of Water Breathing will open that world up to you!
Water Breathing is a 3rd level ritual spell available to most classes that get access to that often replaces Cap of Water Breathing.
Being able to breathe in the bubble doesn’t provide a swim speed, meaning without one, for each foot you move, you need to spend two feet of movement.
Being able to breathe normally underwater is mechanically different from being able to breathe underwater with a trait like Water Breathing for some niche abilities like the Triton’s Emissary of the Sea.
