Dimension Door: Everywhere You Want to Be
Usable By: Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
Spell Level: 4
School: Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 500 feet
Duration: Instantaneous
Components: V
You teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You arrive at exactly the spot desired. It can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as “200 feet straight downward” or “upward to the northwest at a 45-degree angle, 300 feet.” You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn’t exceed what you can carry.
You can also bring one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you cast this spell.
If you would arrive in a place already occupied by an object or a creature, you and any creature traveling with you each take 4d6 force damage, and the spell fails to teleport you.

Dimension Door is an iconic “Oh Shit” button spell; when things go wrong and you need to exit stage right in a hurry, Dimension Door is there for you.
It’s an easy means of taking anyone from immediate danger to shelter anywhere within nearly two football fields of distance.
Did your Persuasion check with the Chain Devil end with a bit more bondage than you were hoping for? Did the attempt to Intimidate the dragon 6 times your size not go as planned? Have you found yourself surrounded with an army of thirsting ghouls, all because of a simple misunderstanding with a lich? Poof, you’re out of there!
Dimension Door is one of those rare and beautiful spells that only require a verbal component. So long as you can speak, you can retreat, and take your best friend with you.
But this spell isn’t limited to cowardly flights; in the hands of somebody bolder, it's the ultimate tool of “SURPRISE!”
Cut short a villainous monolog by teleporting eighty feet up next to them on their balcony. Teleport a raging barbarian onto the back of the beholder lasering you from afar. Bring as many explosives as you can carry into the roaring maw of the dracolich.
You certainly won’t be limited by distance; your only limit is your imagination and how much you value your life!
Sometimes we all want a tool that takes the DM’s 5 hours of planning and chucks it out the window; they’ll create an elaborate puzzle and mystery to find the mystical, ancient keys to open the forty foot wide stone tablet, behind which is immeasurable wealth. Instead of going through the whole “planned adventure”, Dimension Door in, grab the goods, and Dimension Door right back out!
Vaults, hoards, homes, you name it. You don’t need to even sense where you’re going; so long as it's not into a filled space, you can get there.
If you have any reservations with Dimension Door, don’t. I promise you this spell will lead to some of the wildest “They did WHAT?” moments at the table you’ll all be laughing about for years.
