Components: V, S, M (crystal rod worth at least 5,000 gp, which the spell consumes.)
Holding the rod used in the casting of the spell, you touch a Large or smaller chair that is unoccupied. The rod disappears, and the chair is transformed into a Spelljamming Helm.

Spelljammer: Star Trek meets Dungeons and Dragons. Sail out in the astral sea aboard your very own spelljamming vessel powered by YOU, courtesy of one magnificent chair called a Spelljamming Helm! Want to build this magic chair that turns any old shape into a fit vessel to sail the planes? Well now you can with Create Spelljamming Helm!
That is all it does! Are you not playing in the Spelljammer setting? You do not need this! Do you have funds to purchase a spelljamming helm, or a spelljamming vessel with a helm already intact? You don’t need this! WHY IS THIS A SPELL?
It's baffling to me frankly that they made this a spell. This could just be in the rules as a little aside called “making your own spelljamming helm”. Instead they made it a spell that will forever show up on every spell database and be something people go “wait, what’s that do?” It didn’t need to exist this way. It shouldn’t have existed in this form. Boo, Wizards of the Coast. Boo.
That’s kind of it. This probably shouldn’t be a spell. If you’re looking this up out of curiosity as to what it does or if it's good at your table, the answer is probably no. If you, your party, and DM decide it's time to dive into Spelljammer, then maybe you learn this to be one of the first? Even then the description is so unceremonious it's… blah. I’d want a montage of the party welding magical metals to a giant ship deck or dragon skeleton or something, a ship building series of checks attached to the final crowning of the ship with a ritual involving a bunch of runes and components coming together to imbue the power into this chair that will allow whatever caster sit there to power this spacecraft. Instead, it's just “Buy this really expensive part and magically jam it into a lounge chair”. You can do better than this, even at the tables who DO want to explore Spelljammer.
