Best Feats for Death Cleric 5e
Coming to us from the DMG (meaning you need your DM’s permission to play this), the Death domain specializes in damage dealing above all else. With support for both cantrip and weapon use and a channel divinity that would make a Paladin blush, this Cleric isn’t in the market for mercy. This makes feat selection pretty straightforward. We want damage increases and we want them now. Let’s see what we can come up with.
Best Feats for Death Cleric 5e
Fey Touched (Lv 4): This feat doesn’t directly increase damage, but forcing a creature to reroll their save with Silvery Barbs can result in quite a lot of damage when we need it. Misty Step also fills the hole in the Cleric list of teleportation.
War Caster (Lv 4): Even with this being a more defensive feat, this is just too good to pass up. If we plan to hold a weapon and shield, this is almost necessary for us to be able to even cast most of our spells. It also combines very will with Booming Blade, a spell we can easily pick up with a level in many classes or…
Magic Initiate (Lv 4): …This feat! Even if Booming Blade counts as a wizard spell for us, we can still apply our Divine Strike to the attack because that feature only cares about hitting with a weapon attack, not taking the attack action. Also we can grab Find Familiar and have it use the help action to give our one attack per turn advantage!
Poisoner (Lv 8): There are a lot of problems with this feat, but if you’re noticing that there are enough enemies not immune to poison damage, you can create or harvest poisons better than what this feat provides, and you’re looking for every possible way to absolutely decimate an enemy in a single attack, this is a decent option. Stack the best poison you have, plus divine strike, plus touch of death, plus Booming Blade, and you’ve got a crater where that goblin used to be standing.
Great Weapon Master (Lv 8): This one is a bit of a stretch, but if we can guarantee advantage on all our attacks from a familiar or another source, this isn’t a terrible idea to maximize our damage. You could also reflavor a Greatsword or Greataxe as a scythe, really tying the whole “reaper” ascetic together.
Resilient Constitution (Lv 12): Always good to protect our concentration, and this combined with War Caster should keep us safe for the remainder of the campaign.
